S&P lifts China rating one notch

Standard & Poor's (S&P), a ratings agency, on Thursday raised China's long-term sovereign credit rating one notch, taking it from A+ to AA-, reflecting its confidence in Beijing's ability to safeguard financial stability.

The ratings agency, which is one of the so-called "big three", said the upgrade reflected an improved view of risks to China's macroeconomic and financial stability. "We believe the Chinese authorities would respond to future threats to financial stability with timely measures
