Niedermayer to CNB board with effect from 27 Feb

CZECH REPUBLIC - President Vaclav Havel today re-appointed central bank CNB vice-governor Ludek Niedermayer to the Bank Board for another six-year term, with effect from 27 February.

Havel told journalists he had considered also other candidates for the post but would not disclose details.

Niedermayer said the central bank will now focus on economic effects of the Czech Republic's accession to the EU and the eurozone. The financial system and profile of the central bank as an open and effective
