Fourth Bank member alludes to rate cut

UK - Kate Barker last night became the fourth member of the Bank of England's monetary policy committee in a week to hint at approval for future interest rate cuts. Her hint came in a speech to bankers and economists in Edinburgh.

New Bank of England committee member starts today

UK - The Bank of England's nine strong Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has a new member from today, 1 June. Kate Barker, previously of the Confederation of British Industry, will replace DeAnne Julius who has served on the committee since 1997.
