Ban, contain, regulate: BIS weighs crypto policies

Central banks can do more to address inefficiencies in the monetary system, authors say

New analysis by the Bank for International Settlements explores the options for tackling risks in the crypto market, from containment measures to an outright ban.

BIS economists Matteo Aquilina, Jon Frost and Andreas Schrimpf summarise the pros and cons of various regulatory responses. They also suggest an additional option for central banks focused on the traditional financial sector.
