Lower inflation brings relief for Argentina’s central bank

Central bank leaves interest rates on hold at 28.75%

The Central Bank of Argentina’s monetary policy may finally be starting to tame inflation, according to the record of the central bank’s latest monetary policy meeting.

On December 12, the central bank voted to keep rates on hold at 28.75% after inflation showed “favourable” signs of levelling off.

“The evolution of core inflation has been favourable in recent months, breaking the level of persistence observed up to the third quarter,” says the central bank in a statement. Year-on-year
