People: Former MAS managing director Hu dies

Singapore: Richard Hu, a former managing director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and finance minister, died on September 8, aged 96.

Hu served as the MAS’s managing director between July 1983 and December 1984. He sat on the MAS board of directors between 1971 and the end of 1997. From the start of 1985 to the end of 1997, he was the board’s chair.
