Kansas City Fed names new president

Former bank chief executive Jeffrey Schmid takes over from Esther George

Beginning August 21, Jeffrey Schmid will be the president and chief executive of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

The appointment ends a lengthy search process, as former president Esther George retired on January 31. Schmid will complete George’s term, which ends in February 2026. He can be reappointed for a new term.
