Eurogroup nominates Elderson to ECB board

European Union’s governments and parliament must now consider DNB official’s appointment

The eurozone’s finance ministers today (October 5) nominated senior Netherlands Bank official Frank Elderson to serve on the European Central Bank’s executive board.

The Dutch government first nominated Elderson in September for the role, which carries with it a place on the ECB’s governing council. The move by the Eurogroup of eurozone finance ministers makes it extremely likely that he will take up the role.

The Eurogroup, headed by Ireland’s Paschal Donohoe, said in a statement that
