People: Albania appoints new deputy governor

Albania: The supervisory council of the Bank of Albania has chosen another woman to serve as first deputy governor.

Luljeta Minxhozi replaces Elisabeta Gjoni, who had served in the role since January 2012. Minxhozi was already a member of the central bank’s supervisory council.

An academic by background, Minxhozi has been a professor of economics at the University of Tirana since 2011. She joined the central bank in December 2018.

The role of second deputy governor is also held by a woman
