EBA board nominates Spanish candidate as next head

The European Banking Authority’s board has nominated José Manuel Campa, a senior executive at Spanish commercial bank Santander, to be the agency’s next head, it announced today (February 19).

Campa is currently the head of regulatory affairs at Santander, and has previously worked in academia and as a minister in the Spanish government.

He will need to be approved within the next month by the European Parliament’s economic affairs committee, which will call him for a formal hearing. If
