Irish go back to 'hoarding' coins: central bank
Speaking at the issue of 40,000 commemorative coin sets, the central bank of Ireland's head of currency Hugh O'Donnell said Irish people have reverted to their old habits of 'hoarding' coins.

The Central Bank has said that Irish people have reverted to the old habit of 'hoarding' coins.
The Central Bank said that this is why there are more euro coins per head of population in circulation here than anywhere in the Euro zone.
