NBU demands money from former bank owner it has accused of massive fraud

Ukraine’s central bank is suing the former owner of the country’s largest commercial lender in the Swiss courts, in relation to funds he allegedly guaranteed before the bank’s collapse.

The National Bank of Ukraine filed a claim for 6.64 billion hryvnia (approximately $240 million) against Ihor Kolomoisky, former owner of PrivatBank, it announced on December 19. The action had been filed with the Tribunal de Premiere Instance in Geneva on December 18, the NBU said.
