Papua New Guinea's Kamit reviews progress

Wilson Kamit, the governor and chairman of the Bank of Papua New Guinea, discussed developments that the country's economy has made since 1999.

Kamit said that political stability and high commodity prices had contributed to strong economic growth.

But the governor said that the government could do more: "The authorities must continue removing some of the impediments to investment by improving the efficiency and reducing the very high cost structure of public utilities."
