Cambodia needs strong macroeconomic framework for successful de-dollarisation, research says
Cambodia's growing track record of economic and political stability could mean it is the "right time" to develop a "comprehensive" de-dollarisation plan, a working paper published by the central bank suggests.
Cambodia adopted a "managed float" exchange rate back in 1993. However, the paper, by economist Neak Samsen, says an exchange rate regime alone is not sufficient to promote local currency and start de-dollarisation.
