Belgian paper presents new productivity indicators

A working paper, published today by the National Bank of Belgium, presents a new database of cross-country firm-based indicators designed to help measure and compare productivity across Europe.

Micro-based evidence of EU competitiveness: The CompNet database was authored by 19 economists drawn from numerous central banks and universities across Europe.

The authors argue that firm-level data is "crucial" for understanding the drivers of competitiveness "as aggregate performance depends strongly
