Schumpeter superior to Smith
Schumpeter's creative destruction is better for understanding the nature of the US economy than Smith's invisible hand and perfect competition, according to new research from the Philadelphia Federal Reserve.
The growing importance of creative endeavours is what is new in the US economy and not align with the perfect competition paradigm. However, the author notes that the US national income accounts are constructed upon the model of perfect competition.
