Trichet on the ECB - five ideas

In an article published last week European Central Bank president Jean-Claude Trichet said that he is not preparing markets for either a cut or an increase in interest rates.

"We are not biased," Trichet said in an article published on Wednesday 22 June in the French daily Le Monde. "I have said that I was not preparing the markets for a rate cut. Nor am I preparing them for a rise in interest rates. We remain vigilant, realistic and pragmatic," he said.
