National Bank of Belgium - Financial Stability Review (2010)
The National Bank of Belgium's Financial Stability Review, published on Thursday, highlighted several limitations in a government law on recovery measures in the banking sector which was passed in 2009.
In response to the lack of instruments to intervene in a future crisis, Belgium's parliament voted in a law on 31 January last year, to expand the central bank's powers to assist institutions in the banking and financial sector that pose a serious threat to financial stability.
