RBI report highlights upside risks

Since the release of the April 2009 Policy Statement, there have been progressive signs of recovery in India, the Reserve Bank of India said in its quarterly Monetary Policy Report.

Growth of 6.7% during 2008-09 was better than expected, the central bank said, and the projection for the current year is 6% with an upward bias.

"The challenge for us is to return the economy to the high growth rate of 9% that we averaged in the period 2005-08," the report said.
