Central Bank of Sao Tome - Annual Report 2005

Sao Tome's economy grew by 3.8% in 2005, the same amount as in 2004.

The government managed to reduce the budget deficit to 42% of GDP, from 50% the previous year. The central bank said that the reduction was a result of curbing expenditure and imposing budgetary restrictions.

Worryingly, inflation rose from 15.2% in 2004 to 17.2% the next year.
