Taiwan - Annual Report 2006
Taiwan's economy grew by 4.62% last year, buoyed by strong exports in the consumer electronics sector.
Average inflation was low at 0.6%, as were interest rates after an increase in credit card defaults led to poor private consumption.
To improve payment systems, the bank incorporated stock, bond and bills transactions into the inter-bank funds transfer system.
