Eichel unveils new financial taskforce

GERMANY - Hans Eichel, Germany's finance minister, announced on Tuesday the creation of a new financial taskforce to combat balance sheet manipulation by corrupt managers and auditors.

In a speech at the Frankfurt stock exchange, Mr Eichel proposed significant new powers for the Bundesanstalt fur Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht, the recently formed watchdog for financial markets.
