Mboweni calls for central bank independence

Speaking on Saturday the Governor of the South African Reserve Bank Tito Mboweni said "It is absolutely important that monetary policy and the power to create money are entrusted to central banks". He said independent central banks had brought rising prices under control in most countries that had allowed them to exist.
