Female staff make up over 60% of average comms team

Employees most likely to fall in age category of 40–49

Most communications departments of central banks have a majority of female staff, data from the Communication Benchmarks 2024 shows.

The average proportion of female staff is 61.5%, according to data from 32 communications teams. Male employees average 38.5%. The result reveals a range of zero to 100%. Central Banking included an option for ‘other’ gender identities, but the rate was zero across all responding institutions.

Communications departments are also more likely to be made up middle-aged
