BoE poll signals convertibility is key to CBDC demand

CBDC does not need to be built on DLT network, BoE says

Convertibility will be the most important factor in influencing demand for a retail central bank digital currency, according to a new poll conducted by the Bank of England.

While the BoE has not yet made a decision on whether to introduce CBDC, today (April 7) it began engaging with stakeholders on the benefits, risks and practicalities of doing so.
