Paper recommends retraining for workers whose jobs are susceptible to erasure
Artificial intelligence may displace very large numbers of workers from their jobs, research published by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warns.
Worldwide, almost 40% of workers are exposed to the impacts of the technology, Mauro Cazzaniga and colleagues say in a discussion note published on January 14. They say AI’s impact is likely to differ according to workers’ incomes.
They looked at International Labour Organization data on 142 countries.
Workers in advanced economies – some 60% –
