Riksbank expands incentives for lending to small firms

Central bank continues with flurry of crisis-fighting measures

Over recent weeks, Sveriges Riksbank has launched a plethora of initiatives to offset the impact of the Covid-19 shock. On April 6, it launched the latest facility, designed to target lending at small businesses.

The Riksbank is already providing its monetary policy counterparties with cheap funding against collateral, provided they lend the money on to non-financial corporations. It held an initial auction of Skr100 billion ($10 billion) on March 20, and will lend a further Skr400 billion in
