Fed officials say strong economy gives them flexibility and time

Senior Federal Reserve officials have said they have time to watch before deciding to change US monetary policy, however Fed chair Jerome Powell nonetheless hinted the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) could cut rates if the US economy continued on its current course.

“Given the strength of the economy and progress on inflation so far, we have time to let the incoming data guide our decisions on policy,” Powell said in a speech on April 3.
