People: Philippines governor recovering after medical procedure

Philippines: The governor of the Central Bank of Philippines has temporarily passed his duties to a deputy governor, after undergoing surgery.

Benjamin Diokno is currently recovering in hospital after a medical procedure to address a blood clot caused by a “minor” head injury. The governor said in a statement that the procedure was a success and he was “on his way to recovery”.

Diokno is expected to be discharged from hospital later this week and will return to the central bank after a period
