Mark Carney endorses UK Labour party’s finance spokeswoman

Former BoE governor says it is “beyond time” to put Rachel Reeves’s ideas into action

Former Bank of England governor Mark Carney effectively endorsed the opposition Labour party’s chief economics spokeswoman today (October 9).

Carney praised Rachel Reeves, who would probably become chancellor of the exchequer if Labour wins the next general election, due in the next 14 months. The Labour party played the video message from Carney on large screens at its annual conference, to applause from delegates.
