Liberian central bank officials plead not guilty in court

Court sets very high bail level for senior officials as “fired” governor remains in office

A former governor and four other ex-officials at the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) formally pleaded “not guilty” to criminal charges on August 26.

The news comes as the current Liberian governor remains in office despite having been officially dismissed three months ago by the country’s president.

A Liberian court set a very high bail bond on all five CBL ex-officials, making it almost certain that they will have to remain in prison during the trial. The five officials’ declaration came days
