People: Maurice Obstfeld to retire from IMF in December
Macau reappoints monetary authority chairman to one-year term
IMF: Maurice “Maury” Obstfeld, director of the research department at the International Monetary Fund, is retiring at the end of December, the fund announced on July 25.
Obstfeld joined the IMF in September 2015. He was a member of the US president’s council of economic advisers between 2014 and 2015. Obstfeld acted as an honorary adviser to the Bank of Japan’s Institute of Monetary and Economic Studies from 2002 to 2014.
He has also had a prestigious academic career. Obstfeld obtained a PhD
