A former Netherlands Bank governor has strongly criticised his own country’s government for blocking an effort by eurozone states to create an emergency “coronabond”.

Former DNB governor Nout Wellink told Holland’s public broadcaster that the decision by Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte and finance minister Wokpke Hoekstra risked the stability of the eurozone. Wellink said that once the immediate impact of the coronavirus had passed, Southern European countries were likely to find themselves in
