Bank of Namibia defends currency deal with Angola
Stakeholders' concerns addressed by Namibian central bank
The National Bank of Angola will buy back its currency, the kwanza, from neighbouring Namibia at a slower pace than envisaged under a conversion deal struck between the countries, it was announced last week.
The agreement provides for the direct exchange of the Angolan kwanza and the Namibian dollar at two border towns, reducing the amount of commission paid by the public by cutting the US dollar out of the process.
The idea behind the deal is to "facilitate trade activities at the border
