Bank of Canada encourages challenging viewpoints from researchers

Staff research papers at the Bank of Canada will be published under a new process independent of the governing council – the bank's policy-making body – according to its senior deputy governor.

Speaking on the need for innovation in central banks, Carolyn Wilkins supported the idea that researchers should be allowed to have the intellectual space to explore ideas.

"These papers are works-in-progress that will eventually be submitted to peer-reviewed journals. We are also publishing staff
