Mersch tells Greece not to forget future generations

Greece has shown "remarkable" commitment to fiscal consolidation, but future generations are still at risk of bearing the burden of past "misguided policies", according to Yves Mersch, a member of the executive board of the European Central Bank (ECB).

Addressing an audience in Athens, Mersch said he clearly remembered the predictions made in 2010 that Greece would soon be forced out of the euro. "Those claims were wrong – and the Greek people have played an important part in proving them so,"
