Dutch executive director warns banks against ‘charm offensive’
Jan Sijbrand, an executive director at the Netherlands Bank, believes the only way to restore confidence in the banking sector is for banks to become more "prudent" decision-makers.
Speaking in Groningen last week, Sijbrand warned the public against "bashing bankers", and advised bankers against going on a "charm offensive" in an attempt to win back public trust.
Rather, he said, banks should take their societal responsibility "to heart" and act in the interests of all of their stakeholders
