Italy’s Draghi warns of expansion in mafia activity
Mario Draghi, the governor of the Bank of Italy, on Friday said all parts of Italy's economy were now vulnerable to mafia organisations.
At the University of Milan, Draghi said: "Organised crime can damage the fabric of a society, undermine democracy, hold it back where it should still be strengthened. In southern Italy, the presence of Mafia organisations are long-standing and part of local roots."
Draghi said mafia activity was largely concentrated in the south of the country in the Sicily
