Wellink calls on Africa to address sifis
Nout Wellink, the president of the Netherlands Bank and chairman of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, on Thursday urged African nations to address systemically important financial institutions (Sifis) in their countries.
At a meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, Wellink said: "While Africa as a region may not be home to global sifis, the presence of systemically important institutions is still of paramount concern."
