FDIC surveys bank overdraft programmes
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has gathered data on the types, characteristics, and use of overdraft programmes operated by the1,171 banks supervised by the deposit insurance regulator.
The study analyses:
the characteristics, features, and fees of over-draft programs; transaction-processing policies;
marketing and disclosure practices;
internal controls and monitoring practices;
the role of vendors and third parties in overdraft program implementation;
and non-sufficient funds
