EBA data shines light on systemic banks

Banks display systemic importance in range of different ways

The dangers presented by systemically important European banks to the financial system differs between them, according to figures published by the European Banking Authority (EBA) on July 28.

The figures, published annually, present various metrics of the systemic impact of the 37 institutions in the EU with leverage ratio exposure measures above €200 billion ($221 billion) in 2014.

One obvious divergence is between size and other metrics. HSBC comfortably has the largest total exposures at €2.4
