Olsen wins second term at Norges Bank

Governor sees off competition from six other applicants

Øystein Olsen will stay on for a second term as governor of Norges Bank, the Norwegian government revealed today (May 27).

Olsen's first six-year term as governor was due to end in January 2017. The position was opened for public applications in early April, but Olsen quickly announced his intention to stay on, which observers at the time took as evidence he would face little competition.

Nevertheless, six others put their names forward. Applicants included Svein Harald Øygard, a Norwegian
