Carney calls on eurozone members to share fiscal burden

BoE governor takes stand on contentious debate during speech in Dublin

Bank of England (BoE) governor Mark Carney has waded into eurozone politics, arguing member countries must share fiscal burdens for the currency union to be successful.

Speaking in Dublin yesterday, Carney addressed the region's travails head on, saying a "complete" solution to low growth and tepid investment required "the sharing of fiscal risks".

He added the "timidity" of European leaders who "do not currently foresee fiscal union as part of monetary union" has costs.
