Basel surveys literature on links between finance and real economy

A paper published on Tuesday by a group working under the auspices of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has drawn together the academic literature on the transmission of financial shocks to real economy, identifying three broad channels.

The working group from the Basel Committee's Research Task Force noted the "critical importance" of identifying transmission channels to the broader understanding of financial stability. Distilling the academic literature on the subject, the group found
