Regional central bank unviable - Tito Mboweni

Tito Mboweni, governor of the South African Reserve Bank, said Tuesday "We have agreed we will do some research on what the feasibility is of a common central bank for South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland and Namibia." However, he added that politically the idea was a "dead duck".

Reserve Bank governor Tito Mboweni said on Tuesday the concept of a single central bank for Lesotho, Namibia, Swaziland and South Africa was a good idea, but politically unviable.
