EU to base regulators in London and Frankfurt

European Union finance ministers agreed Tuesday to base two new financial regulatory committees in London and Frankfurt.

The move is seen as a blow to the EU Commission which had wanted to put them in Brussels.

In a deal reached by finance ministers in Brussels, the committee on banking supervision will be in London, insurance will be in Frankfurt while the already established securities authority will remain in Paris.
