"I'm still around," Gono warns currency dealers

The Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, Gideon Gono, has had to dismiss rumours that he is in bad health after illegal foreign currency dealers celebrated his alleged demise.

According to the government-backed The Herald newspaper, black market dealers in Harare and Bulawayo broke out in celebration this week as rumours variously claimed that the governor had fallen ill, been taken up in an intensive care unit and even passed away.
