Governors think unconventional tools may not stay – ECB survey

Advanced economies’ governors more likely to favour keeping QE tools

Many central bank governors think that central banks will not indefinitely continue to use unconventional monetary tools adopted following the financial crisis, according to a survey published by the European Central Bank (ECB).

Governors from advanced economies, where central banks did adopt unconventional monetary policies, were however much more likely to favour the tools’ retention than their counterparts who had not used the tools, the survey found.
