RBI's Joshi on the bank's wide-ranging strategies to raise financial awareness

Addressing the Indian challenge of linking larger numbers of financially excluded people to the formal financial system, the focus of the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) strategy at the "base level" is to create awareness of basic financial products, RBI executive director Deepali Pant Joshi said at the 10th anniversary of the Citi-FT Financial Education Summit in Hong Kong on Saturday.

She pointed to "outreach visits" by the bank's senior executives to remote villages, "financial literary centres
