BofE's George gives evidence at Treasury Committee

FEATURE - Giving evidence to the UK House of Commons Treasury Committee on Thursday, Sir Edward George, Governor of the Bank of England, said he anticipates recovery for the UK economy but that it would be slow.

He was at pains to stress a "double risk" to the forecast: on the downside for growth and secondly on the potential for increased inflation levels. The downside risk to growth was to be found in uncertainty over the global economy and the possibility that consumer spending would moderate
